Hypatia (born c. 350–370; died 415 AD) lived in Alexandria, Egypt, then part of the Eastern Roman Empire. She was the daughter of the mathematician Theon of Alexandria and a prominent thinker of the Neoplatonic school in Alexandria, where she taught philosophy and astronomy. She is the first female mathematician whose life is reasonably well recorded. In March 415 AD, she was murdered by fanatics.

Hypatia Lyrics by Christina Goh (translated):
CHORUS
Indélébile
Indelible
On l’a cru si fragile
She was thought to be so fragile
De l’oubli, elle triomphe, Raison jubile
Over oblivion, she triumphs, Reason exults
VERSE 1
Des myriades, elle déclinait le nombre
Of the myriads she enumerated the flows
Jusqu’aux étoiles, explorait les mondes
Up to the stars, she explored the worlds
L’esthétique devenu sonde
Esthetics become a sonar
De l’âme, de sa pénombre
Of the soul, of its penumbra
Poésie devenu sonde
Poetry become a sonar
De la lumière, de l’ombre
Of light, of shade
BRIDGE
On l’a cru si fragile
She was thought to be so fragile
VERSE 2
Précieuse, l’encre coule de ses mains
Precious, the ink flows from her hands
Dans les archives, elle comptait nos voies
In the archives, she counted our ways
Dans l’Alexandrie des lois
In the Alexandria of laws
Seul un livre au creux des seins
With only a book in the hollow of her breast
Maïeutique comble de joie
Maieutics makes her so happy
L’intellect est mère
Intellect is a mother
CHORUS
Indélébile, on l’a cru si fragile
She was thought to be so fragile
De l’oubli, elle triomphe, raison jubile
Over oblivion, she triumphs, Reason exults
VERSE 3
Des nébuleuses, elle dénombrait des lendemains
Of the nebula she enumerated tomorrows
Jusqu’aux étoiles, explorait les mondes
Up to the stars, she explored the worlds
La violence n’est pas la fin
Violence is not the end
Rien ne ceint la force de l’onde
Nothing refrains the strength of the wave
Le silence n’est pas la fin
Silence is not the end
On explore les mondes
We explore the worlds
On explore les mondes
We explore the worlds
On explore les mondes
We explore the worlds
Les mondes
The worlds
